The Grounds of Erdene Zuu
This monastery, founded in 1585, is likely the earliest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. It's located near the ancient Mongol capital of Karakorum. During its history, it was damaged in war, abandoned, rebuilt, ordered to be destroyed, converted to museums, and eventually restored as a functioning monastery.
As usual, with my luck, it was raining throughout my entire time in Mongolia. This was, after spending two weeks in South Korea catching typhoon-related rain.
Part of the Erdene Zuu Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
