Branching Out
Over Memorial Day weekend, I took a hike with some friends through the Presidio. The Presidio was originally constructed as a Spanish Fort in 1776, but later seized by the U.S. Military at the start of the Mexican-American war in 1846. After 219 years of use, it was transferred to the National Parks Service in 1994.
Today, the Presidio is a beautiful park filled with lush vegetation, smaller parks and in general, a lot of greenery. I was constantly surprised by the variety and amount of different plants while on the hike. It must take a lot of effort to maintain this park.
