The Bridge Into Town
On the outskirts of Kangerlussuaq, a town of barely more than 500 people, this bridge provides safe crossing of the Watson River. The bridge is named in memorial after Jack T. Perry died attempting to navigate the river on August 15th, 1976.
Checked out of the Polar Lodge, and with nothing to do until my domestic flight to Ilulisat at noon, I thought, why not go for a nice hour-plus long stroll about town? After all, with windchill, the 3F weather was actually just -10F which isn't too bad for arctic Greenland in winter. Admittedly, near the end of my walk I was getting kinda cold and looked forward to hanging out indoors for a bit to warm up.
