The Golden Spire of Chimi Lhakhang

Built in 1499, this Buddhist monastery sits atop a hill just 10km (6.2mi) from Punakha. Looking beyond the golden yellow roof, the village of Sopsokha can be seen in the valley below, nestled amongst the mountains.

This monastery is famously known as the fertility monastery. Women who come seeking blessings of children get hit on the head by the presiding Lama with a 10 inch long ivory, wood, and bone phallus.
