Great Enlightenment Hall
Daeungjon Hall was originally constructed in 681 AD, and reconstructed upon the original founding platform in 1765 after having been repaired and rebuilt several times. The hall is representative of Buddhist architecture of the later Joseon Dynasty.
Inside the hall is a Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhārtha Gautama, or simply as the Buddha. The Hall is part of Bulguksa, classified by the South Korean government as Historic and Scenic Site No. 1, which was later added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1995.
