Looking Back From Elsen Tasarkhai
My first time going into a desert with sand dunes, I didn't really know what to expect. Nature rarely has clear boundaries, but I was still a little naive and surprised at how much greenery could be at the edge of a desert. Basically across the street 180 degrees behind this shot was the start of sand dunes.
I had a local guide and driver taking me around the country. As I battled a cold, I was regularly falling asleep on the less than smooth rides. I still think I spent more time awake than asleep though, and my eyes were continuously delighted by the green steppe and the mountains and rolling hills that punctuated the landscape.
