The Wall Of Prayer Wheels

Bhutan follows the Drukpa Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. The state religion of Bhutan is Buddhism and the majority of the country follow the religion. This makes for some beautiful temples and monasteries throughout the country, along with a number of monks.

It is a bit of an adjustment to seeing so many monks walking around, although I think it's less so than some other countries like say Cambodia. It's hard to imagine seeing so many members of the clergy being around that you can spot them almost everywhere. The US is predominantly Christian, and while you can see churches everywhere, it isn't so common to see Christian clergy dressed up in religious attire wherever you go. The overall immersion of religion and often being surrounded by monks certainly adds to the cultural exposure of visiting the Land of the Thunder Dragon.
