Husavik Turf Houses
One of the handful of small villages on the island of Husavik. This is pretty deep into Faroese territory. Well, relative to the small size of the Faroes. From Vagar Airport you take the subsea tunnel into neighboring Streymoy Island before catching a ferry across to Sandoy.
The actual car ride from airport to ferry is just shy of an hour. Add in another 45 min ferry ride across islands and another 20 min drive and you find yourself smack dab in the middle of Husavik.
So you see within a matter of a few hours you can actually check out a few different islands if you're so inclined. Realistically though, it's better to work your way through the islands with some detours here and there. Sandoy made for a nice day trip.
With much of the hotel options being centered around the small capital of Torshavn, it can be beneficial to check out what's available on airbnb so you don't have to drive back to Torshavn every night. There are a sporadic few hotels throughout the islands of varying quality. Overall though, you will find amazing scenery everywhere you go. And cool turf houses like the ones pictured!
