Tokyo Burnout
Upon entering the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, you are met with what is otherwise just another skyscraper lobby. Escalators lead you to the basement where you join a line to access one of the two observation deck towers. Having gone through this efficient line once before, years ago, I eagerly anticipate my arrival on the observation deck. This time, a bit of planning has worked in my favor and I'll be taking in the sunset 45 floors up.
This bustling metropolis of nearly 14M people is abuzz 24/7. It's gritty, futuristic, and a machine unto itself. The endless sea of buildings fade in the distance as Mount Fuji peaks out one last time before the sun burns out for the day.
