A 100,000 Thank You's!
I've been posting regularly to this blog now for a bit over three months. Today my flickr photo views for the year hit 100k. By comparison, it took me the entirety of 2013 to hit a similar level of views. Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this blog and check out my photos! Remember, just like voting in Chicago, make sure you comment early and often.
Today's Photo - The Red Star Ceiling
In North Korea, what you may consider the "Korean War", is called the "Fatherland Liberation War." The Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum is a pretty interesting museum in Pyongyang. I was pretty struck by the types of exhibits on display. I usually think of War Museums and monuments as memorials to the fallen soldiers, honoring them for their patriotic service and bravery. In this museum however, there were a number of exhibits on enemy vehicles and weapons that had been captured.
One of the storytelling mechanisms are these giant 360 degree dioramas, painted and sculpted in intricate detail. Now, what does all this have to do with this photo? Well, the drapes covering the ceiling to one of these 360 degree dioramas is cleanly capped off with a Red Star.
