From The Glory Days

There is a famous quote attributed to Chairman Mao, "不去长城 非好汉" (He who has not been to the Great Wall is not a true man). I've heard some variations on this quote all attributed to Mao Tse-tung. They all basically state that if you climb the Great Wall, you are a hero. Regardless of the quote, there's no denying the sheer splendor and magnitude of the Great Wall. I've only been to a couple sections, and even though I've never been to Badaling, I always suggest people put the effort in to go a bit further out and see some older sections of the wall, such as Simatai (pictured).
