Shichahai

Northwest of the Forbidden City is Shichahai, a historic scenic area dating back to the Jin Dynasty (12th-13th centuries). It consists of three lakes, ten famous Taoist and Buddhist temples, and several formal royal mansions and gardens. As you walk around the area, you can find nice hutongs to duck into and explore.
