Beijing National Stadium
Probably better known by it's nickname, the Bird's Nest is a stunning modern architectural design constructed for the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing. Inspired after studying Chinese ceramics while trying to design a "porous" stadium, architects decided on the "nest scheme." The result is that the stadium is actually two independent structures standing 50 feet apart, designed to hide a retractable roof which was later nixed from the design before completion. Personally, as a fan of modern design, I love it.
