Out For An Evening Mow
The Faroe Islands has many great examples of traditional turf roof houses. In the capital city of Torshavn, slowly they are disappearing in favor of homes built in a more modern style. While you can see them in other Scandinavian countries, somehow it feels a bit more defining for the Faroes.
As I explored the country, I was wondering how they take care of the turf roofs. Do they water them? Fertilize them? Trim them? Well, sometimes you find out the answers to some of your questions in the most surprising of ways!
Shortly after leaving the hotel to drive into the more happening part of town to see what a Saturday night in Torshavn is like, I drove past this attention grabbing scene. It might be 9:30pm, but with the midnight sun you can do your landscaping chores at any time.
