The Valley of Tranquility

On the drive from Paro to Thimpu, just before passing through the Thimpu City Gate we took a brief stop to check out some stupas that basically formed a median in the highway. Walking to the edge of the highway revealed this beautiful valley. Everywhere you look in Bhutan, there is something beautiful to be found.

I know many people would rather stroll down the Champs-Élysées or see the latest trends in Italy, but for me, seeing the incredible landscapes of Earth never ceases to amaze me. Being able to disconnect a bit be it from facebook or 24-7 digital life can be incredibly refreshing. At first you might have that knee-jerk reaction to post a photo or update your feed, but after a while you realize how liberating it is to be without internet and just how much time you've freed up to do more productive things. I'm not saying go out and become a luddite, but taking a week or two off every once in a while does the mind and body some good.
