Hurricane Point

Located right off Highway 1, Hurricane Point is in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The area here is part of the Big Sur which is loosely defined as an area of about 100 miles of the Central Coast of California. It's an incredibly beautiful coastline.

I've been wanting to visit Big Sur for a long time, as the photos I've seen always looked so impressive. I was in Monterey over the weekend, and while I had no plans to visit the Big Sur, my plans suddenly changed and I found myself driving down the coastline with only a rough idea that I wanted to get to McWay Falls if I could before turning around and heading home. 

The falls were not as great as I had hoped for, based on the photos. The coastline though, should probably make top ten lists for best road trips in the US. Since I'll be in Monterey this upcoming weekend again, I look forward to exploring more of Monterey County's natural beauty.
