Fish River Canyon
I was a bit surprised when I learned that the second largest canyon in the world is actually located in Namibia. Coming in at slightly more than 1/3rd the length of the Grand Canyon, Fish River Canyon is 100mi (160km) long. Located in the far south of Namibia, this is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations, which is a little surprising in and of itself given that most of the other tourist destinations are in northern Namibia.
The drive to Fish River Canyon felt like one of the most desolate drives I took on the entire trip. I think I drove at one point for a solid 30 minutes without ever seeing another car on the road. Having only flown in to Namibia the prior day, I was pretty psyched to be seeing such an awesome site. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to really explore the area and take half as many photos as I would have liked due to the distance between the canyon and where I was lodging, but it is definitely an awesome site to behold in person.
