The Southernmost Public Bar In The World

This is something that was, a bit unexpected on my journey to Antarctica. Inside Vernadsky Research Base in the Argentine Islands is a lounge that's considered to be the southernmost public bar in the world. With only 12 (all-male) Ukrainians staffing the base, and what must be an abundance of free time, they managed to fit in some homemade vodka production.

The decor is quite...ahem...interesting. While you can buy a shot of the fruity and delicious vodka for $3. Ladies looking for a free shot however, are invited to trade their bra in. All sizes welcomed. Clearly, there's been a few women here before, and also, did I mention that there are only men staffing this base?

Don't let this deter you though - the scientists working at the base were all quite friendly and it was pretty cool to see inside an Antarctic research base. As much as I enjoyed exploring Antarctica, I don't know how I'd feel about being stationed on a base for months at a time.

Inside Vernadsky Research Base is a bar decked out with a bit more than the minimum amount of "flair."
