Desert Sunrise

In what should be a rather harsh climate, life finds a way to not only live, but to thrive. Sure, it's not exactly going to match a tropical rainforest, but there is plenty to be found in the middle of the Namib desert.

While you might picture endless sand, the reality is there are shrubs here and there, or in this section, quite a bit of hardy grass covering the arid landscape. Inside the NamibRand Nature Reserve, what must be one of the largest private reserves to be found, this was the site for my first hot air balloon ride. A wonderful way to take in nature's beauty from a new perspective.

6am means it's time to take sunrise photos in the desert before things get crazy hot.
