At The End Of The Subway Line
What might you find if you walk to the very end of a Pyongyang metro station? Why, the very likeness of the Dear Leader, the Eternal President Kim Il-sung. While the rest of the station looks like a glitzy Soviet affair, with mosaic tiled walls and grandiose chandeliers hanging above the platform, the end of the station is a bit more, reserved.
Taking the Pyongyang Metro is one of the best chances for tourists in North Korea to mingle with the locals. While you're probably not going to make any new lifelong friends in the short period of time you have to ride the subway, you may get the opportunity for a quick chat with someone hoping to unleash their English on a native speaker.
Statue (bust?) of Eternal President, Kim Il-sung.
