Perseid Meteor
My first return visit to Mt. Hamilton, east of San Jose to see the Perseids meteor shower. It was actually my first time seeing a meteor shower, and it was quite incredible to see it in some relatively dark sky.
For the most part, I wasn't trying to view the Perseids towards the city lights, but I did happen to take a few shots in this direction and luckily captured a meteor in the process. Some of them were amazingly bright flashes that would streak across the sky. Hard to imagine how something no larger than a walnut could streak across so much of the sky so brilliantly. Space is amazing!
This is also the first photo I'm posting taken with the Sony a7rII. I just got it, and so I'm still figuring out how to best use it, but having 42 megapixels in such a tiny package is truly exciting! Hopefully I'll learn how to use it pretty quickly as I'll be out looking at the stars again in a few weeks.
