Faces of Burma Part 2

While shuffling between the hotel and the historic temples and pagodas of Old Bagan, I encountered an NLD rally. NLD being the National League for Democracy in Myanmar. Famed politician and held under house arrest for 15 years in a 21 year period, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi serves as the NLD President.

Being roughly one week before the elections, the energy and turnout was high. I came across NLD rallys throughout the country, big and small. There was an air of optimism about what the future would hold for this country after its general elections.

The NLD symbol, smack dab on the forward of this young boy, is a peacock. His face, covered in thanaka paste.
