On The Cusp Of Something Bigger
Indulge me for a moment. I want you to close your eyes for a few seconds, and imagine you're in a ship cabin and the only thing you can see out your window is an endless horizon of water in every direction. Nothing to break the horizon. You've been sailing for 2 days straight through some of the roughest waters in the world, and all you see is, more water.
Now, imagine you wake up, and suddenly, the world around you has transformed completely. Icebergs are floating by your window as the ship cruises further into denser and denser pack ice. Perhaps, that last part is a bit hard to imagine. The excitement built up, you're stir crazy from being ship bound for a couple days. It's an amazing experience. Unlike any other.
It's one of those cases where the journey is worth the destination. Even having crossed the Drake both ways now, I truly hope I get another opportunity to explore Antarctica again. Once it all it takes to be hooked.
