What You Don't See
You've probably heard the phrase "tip of the iceberg" before. Or even seen some photo that makes it appear like a tiny iceberg has this massive size underneath the water. While it is approximate, roughly 7/8th of an iceberg's mass (and volume) is beneath the ocean's surface.
Coming across this vast section of icebergs all around was one of the most spectacular ways to arrive in Antarctica. There's no question you're in another world entirely when you walk out onto the ship deck and see this amazing scene before your eyes. Even though it was snowing, you can definitely see the iceberg beneath the surface. Super cool!
