Built For The Highlands

Talk about American muscle! This beast is a head turner for sure. With 46" tires, this truck is heavily modified for touring the Highlands of Iceland. Not really practical for the city streets of Reykjavik, but, was sure fun being picked up in one of these and cruising around town to pick up the few other guests joining in the same day tour as me to Landmannalaugar.

The day trip was a highlight of my short trip to Iceland. The guide, Haukur 'Hawk Son Of A Brave Stone' really made the tour. Charismatic and with a booming voice, he's the modern-era Icelandic Viking. Friendly and knowledgeable, I would gladly go on a tour again with him. I'd say that, overall I've had good tour guides than bad, but there's always some that stand out above the rest, and Hawk is one of them.
