Crossing The North Atlantic Ocean

There's a place in the Faroe Islands where you can literally walk across the Atlantic Ocean. I've never walked across an ocean before, so I thought it was a pretty cool idea! Not only that, but when you cross to the other side, you are greeted by a colony of puffins! It's like something right out of a fairy tale, except it's real life.

Such are the pleasures of travel in the Faroes. A short day trip away from Vagar Island (where the international airport is), the island of Mykines and its neighboring islet of Mykineshólmur is one of the best places you can go to see puffins. Cute, colorful, beautiful puffins.

The 40m long bridge is not that high above sea level that even those with a fear of heights shouldn't be too bothered. You do have to walk down a set of stairs to get to the bridge, and of course, back up on the other side as well. Generally the path is quite good with railings of rope or wood where needed. Do watch your step though.

Oh, and don't forget to close the gate! Wouldn't want any sheep getting across, would we?
