North Korean Senior Captain

This Senior Captain (대위) gave us a tour around the North Korea Peace Museum, which is a building constructed to house the signing of the Korean War Armistice Agreement. It's located just north of the Joint Security Area (JSA), which is the cool and dangerous spot on the border between the two Koreas that must be one of the must heavily militarized places on Earth.

I can never get over the ginormous size of the Peaked Caps worn in the North Korean military. I swear they are larger than any others I've seen! It looks big in the photo, but then when you're up close you kind of wonder if the cap really needs to be that big? Is there some insulating benefit of having these huge peaked caps in winter?
