Waiting To Bloom
I came across a rather small but nice garden of sorts on my walk from the guest house I was staying in to Jetty 1905, a restaurant on the ocean. Various cacti and flowers, all quite surprisingly beautiful for being at the edge of a desert.
Took this photo with the Sony RX1R I had rented for the trip. I am continually impressed at the quality of images that come out of this tiny full frame mirrorless camera. Considering it's roughly comparable in cost to my 5DMIII, it better be good!
One of the little interesting factoids I learned about Swakopmund from talking with one of my guides was that in addition to drinking water, houses can tap into another line with semi-treated sewage water, which is used just for watering yards and plants. They're actually trying to slowly build the longest palm tree-lined street in the world, and again, the treated water is used to water all those trees. I think it's a little weird to have all those palm trees, but to each their own I guess.
A flower ready to bloom.
