Green And Gloomy
While it looks a bit gloomy at the moment, most of the time it was actually quite pleasant and beautiful. The North Atlantic can be a bit broody at times, but for my summertime visit I can't really complain. Sure there was some light rain, but nothing that really dampened any of my plans.
It's pretty common to see turf roof houses in the Faroe Islands. I believe this might've been more of a shelter for livestock than an actual home. Basically, turf roofs for everything!
Many people also seemed to have these shed-like structures that are made of wood like on the left side of this structure. There's some salty sea breeze that goes through, which is a great compliment to curing meat apparently.
